After graduating from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) in 2019, Genesa was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2020.

As a Senior Associate in the dispute resolution team, Genesa has experience in all areas of civil and commercial litigation and arbitration with an emphasis on cross-border disputes, shipping, trade financing and criminal law. Genesa has assisted in and successfully argued contested matters in the High Court and Court of Appeal of Singapore.


Work Highlights

  • Counsel for the Liquidators of a world-renowned oil trading company in Singapore in various interpleader proceedings and ongoing insolvency proceedings. 

  • Counsel for an established Japanese hospital/medical group in various disputes, including commencing an action against its former director and other related individuals and companies in breach of fiduciary duties, unjust enrichment and knowing receipt as well as defending an action by an investor.  

  • Counsel for the Japan P&I Club defending an action by an international financing bank against one of the Japan P&I Club’s shipowner for alleged wrongful switching of the bill of lading. Judgment reported in [2024] SGHC 74. 

  • Counsel for an individual and her group of companies in the automobile industry defending claims of dishonest assistance arising out of her ex-husband’s alleged breach of fiduciary duties. A reported decision on the novel issue of marital privilege was issued in the course of proceedings – see Systematic Airconditioning Pte Ltd v Ho Seng Ken and others [2023] SGHC 10.   

  • Counsel for a Tokyo-listed advertising agency in an SIAC arbitration against a Hong Kong-listed game developer. A favourable settlement was obtained for the client.  

  • Counsel for and advised a subsidiary of a group of companies which is listed on the Nikkei 225 in the recovery of monies fraudulently transferred to conspirators in Singapore. A significant amount of money was recovered for the client. The reported judgement is Mitsui E&S Power Systems Inc v Neptun International Pte Ltd and Rian Bin Rahim [2024] SGHCR 3.
